Dear Arlington friends and neighbors,
The Mystic Valley Area Branch NAACP is thrilled and honored to present an evening of riveting conversation with Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. at the Regent Theatre in Arlington for the release of his new book, America, U.S.A.: How Race Shadows the Nation’s Anniversaries.
One of the nation’s most prominent scholars, Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr. is Princeton’s James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of African American Studies, as well as a TIME Magazine columnist and frequent guest on programs such as "Morning Joe" and "Deadline: White House" on MS Now (MSNBC), and "Meet the Press" on NBC. Dr. Glaude is the New York Times bestselling author of Begin Again, and We Are the Leaders We Have Been Looking For.
America, U.S.A., is a timely, rich, exploration of America’s legacy and the hard truths of this nation’s past - as America approaches its 250th anniversary. Glaude is a powerful voice of conscience in our tumultuous world, calling on us to interrogate our conceptions of innocence and freedom and the stories we tell ourselves about our past and present.
The evening will include a book launch, discussion, and Q&A.
