Dear Arlington friends and neighbors,

Join Arlington's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Division for a free screening of Hidden Figures (PG) on Thursday, June 12 (3:45 - 5:55 PM) at the Regent Theatre. Celebrate Juneteenth while learning about three brilliant Black women mathematicians, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson, who made groundbreaking contributions to NASA. Hidden Figures sheds light on their achievements and the barriers they overcame during segregation in the United States.

All are welcome, free snacks will be provided, and we’ll be giving away copies of two powerful books:

  • How the Word Is Passed by Clint Smith

  • Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds

Please note: Book giveaways are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thursday, June 12

3:45 PM - 5:55 PM

Regent Theatre, 7 Medford St, Arlington

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to grab snacks and settle in.

We encourage you to RSVP online, but walk-ins are welcome too!

We acknowledge that Juneteenth is officially observed on June 19. By hosting our event on June 12, we aim to provide an opportunity for community reflection and engagement ahead of the holiday, while leaving space for individuals to participate in larger celebrations in Boston on the 19th.

Arlington values equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are committed to building a community where everyone is heard, respected, and protected.
